Career OverviewThe structural analyst is a specialist in the applied science area of the biotechnology industry. The structural analyst works with other members of the genetic research team to determine the protein structure and function in genetic sequencing and analysis of genomes.
The structural analyst must be familiar with various computer generated programs, models, databases and other reports to assist the research team in defining and exploring the structure of genetic material. The structural analyst may also work on projects that are exploring the cloning and reproduction of genetic material through automated ways.
The structural analyst must have good interpersonal skills and be able to work in a team setting in a research facility. The structural analyst usually works mostly with the computer generated models and data but occasionally becomes involved with the laboratory process.
